Sensible Shoes

My name is Rebecca.

I am in my very late twenties now the grand ol’ age of 31, and I have psoriatic arthritis.

I developed it April 2016 and was diagnosed shortly after in August 2016 so this is all a relatively new journey for me. I also suffered from psoriasis from the age 16. Clearly anything beginning with Pso is my nemesis!

I started cosentyx injections in November 2017 and haven’t looked back. I was psoriasis clear within 3 weeks and physically back to my able bodied self not much longer after.

Cosentyx has been so successful for me, I ran a marathon.

However, I am destined to spend the rest of my life in sensible shoes.

In November 2018 I had my first round of toe straightening surgery and will be having the other foot done in the near future.

I’ve created this blog not only as a way to connect with all of you, but also to share my experiences of medication and treatments, the highs and lows of having arthritis, and also my day to day life. Absolutely nothing is off limits and if there is anything you want me to tackle then please let me know!

Be warned though, I update the blog fairly sporadically and need prompting to do it more often. I do however reply to all emails and am probably mostly to be found hanging out on instagram @rebeccalnorth

A bit more about me? I work full time in the Oil and Gas industry, it is about as boring as it could get. I love reading, sport, taking baths and cats. I study PPE through the Open University and I suspect it’s gonna take me the entire 16 years on offer to complete it.

I live in Aberdeen with my very patient boyfriend fiance of many years, Jack, and our little adopted cat, Mo.
